This course is designed for adoption social workers and mental health providers. 

In this course, we talk with Dr. Dana Johnson about the common risk factors associated with adopting a baby in the US. Dr. Johnson is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota where he co-founded the Adoption Medicine Program in 1986.

  • Identify three common risk factors in domestic infant adoption.
  • List three risks of premature birth.
  • Explain how the impact of prenatal exposure can be mitigated by being raised in a loving and stable home.
  • Identify three red flags that an expectant mother has abused alcohol or drugs during her pregnancy.
